AN AFTERNOON OF FUN AND SILLY SPORTS REJECTED BY THE OFFICIAL OLYMPICS
Saturday 16th June, 1.00 – 4.00pm
Chestnuts Park,St Ann’s Road, Tottenham N15
ALL ACTIVITIES & ENTRANCE FREE
In the spirit of Jeux Sans Frontieres (Games Without Borders), the Wildcat Arts Collective and the Friends of Chestnuts Park bring you the 2012 Nolympic Games.
This community event will not be sponsored by giant corporations that exude a healthy image for people and planet (McDonalds, Coca Cola, BP). Olympian profiteer Seb Coe will not be a consultant. They’ll be no z-list celebrity opening these games and they’ll be no bowing and scraping because no minor royal will be there (too busy 3 -Day Eventing - and not as riders).
No useless politicians will be looking for a photo opportunity (if they do show up, wet sponges and stocks will be available). They’ll be no drones, no snipers (maybe the odd Super-Soaker), no surface to air missiles, no secret police (apart from the usual one or two).
Nobody will try to sell you sweat-shop t-shirts, t-towels or t-mobiles – there might be tea and cake though. No cheap plastic keyrings, whistles or bells with shockingly designed logos on them, no plastic union jacks made by children in China.
There will however, be a 100 foot inflatable obstacle course, sumo wrestling suits and a gladiator duelling arena. There will be silly races and giant games including twister, jenga and connect four, as well as a tug of war, splat the Tory Rat and stocks/sponges. Haringey Play Association will be doing inclusive games and Mr Giles will be making alternative Olympic torches.
Everything will be free! Come along and have some good clean/dirty fun. All ages/abilities welcome – everyone will be picked for the team!
VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED FOR THIS EVENT: IF YOU CAN SPARE A COUPLE OF HOURS ON THE DAY, WE NEED KINDLY FOLK TO HELP SET UP/TAKE DOWN, LOOK AFTER ACTIVITIES AND POINT PEOPLE IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. YOUR ASSISTANCE WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.
