The fight against the Olympics continues!
Mass protest on 12.45pm, Friday 31 August, ATOS HQ, Triton Square, London NW1
ATOS is a global mega-corporation worth €8.5 billion. It is sponsoring the Paralympic Games for disabled athletes. It also has the UK government contract to cut disabled people’s benefits.
ATOS is paid £100 million a year to test 11,000 sick and disabled people a week and judge whether they are ‘fit for work’. Millionaire Tory chancellor George Osborne’s aim is to cut £18 billion in welfare benefits over five years. ATOS is at the cutting edge of the Tory attack on the poor.
Many of the disabled hounded and persecuted by ATOS have already committed suicide. A thousand have died of their illnesses since being deemed ‘fit for work’.
Disabled People Against Cuts is organising a week of protest against ATOS sponsorship of the Paralympics on 27-31 August, with a spoof awards ceremony (Monday), action at local ATOS offices (Tuesday), delivery of a coffin of messages (Wednesday), a phone jam and twitter storm (Thursday), and finally a mass ‘Closing ATOS Ceremony’ at ATOS HQ (Friday).
